INSPO: MILK AND ROSES BISTRO

I would always pass by Milk and Roses Bistro in Greenpoint, Brooklyn on my way to work but could never stop in because well, I was on my way to work. It always caught my eye in the summer because it had huge windows in the front that would be open letting the outdoors lead indoors and inside, I would get a peek of the interesting interiors. Now that it is a slow time for me I finally had the chance to not only stop inside, but eat there...twice. What really caught my interest at first was the extensive bookcases located in the restaurant that hold a plethora of books. Then, are the large red, tufted banquettes. They certainly pop in the space amongst the wood flooring. The centerpiece of the space is also a grand antique piano for anyone that wants to tickle its ivories. My nine and a half years of piano lessons did not tempt me to do so. The jewel of Milk and Roses is a sunroom in the back of the restaurant which is heated even in the winter months. There are potted plants housed in the space and I cannot wait until it is warmer and it is lush with green. There is also a quaint backyard which was not open but it will soon come to life with landscaping and guests seated at bistro tables. For us New Yorkers, outdoor space is a hot commodity. The brunch at Milk and Roses was tasty and I highly recommend going there for a cocktail during the afternoon hours. My friend, Sadia, and I are already plotting renting it out for a summer party with family and friends.
