INSPO: TERRAIN WESTPORT GARDEN CAFÉ

Last week I traveled to Westport, Connecticut, which is just an hour drive from New York City, to visit Terrain. In a previous post, I had mentioned that I may go there after falling deeply in love with their Glen Mills, Pennsylvania location and I am delighted that I actually had the opportunity to go. It is always nice to get out of the city---especially to a place as beautiful as Terrain. It felt like Spring in there as I was surrounded by plants, flowers, pretty home goods in light colors and yes, Easter candy! After taking a long time to walk around, salivating over all the products and foliage and snapping a lot of photos, I sat down to a delicious early lunch at the restaurant. The lush and green environment that you are surrounded with in the store extends to the café which is still within the shop, but separated by a dark wood wall with large reclaimed wood doors. Foliage is still a focal point of the restaurant with an extensive living plant wall. You definitely feel as though you are dining al fresco in an outdoor garden but still in the warmth of the store. It is quite spectacular. Opposite that wall is all windows letting a lot of sun stream in making the space bright and airy. The café is quite intimate in size with a limited number of tables and steel chairs, with bright green seat cushions, placed throughout. The menu possesses the freshest ingredients---like they were just plucked out of a garden or from an organic farm. Even the warm [out of this world] bread is served in a terracotta flower pot. Yes, it is a bit kitchy but so cute and a creative idea for the venue. It is the ultimate garden, home and food lover's paradise. If I had an outdoor space or patio at home, I would definitely be inspired to make it look like Terrain Westport's Garden Café---potted warm bread and all...
