TAKE ME THERE: EL FENN

To fill you in more about our trip to Morocco, I wanted to share the amazing riad we stayed in while we were in Marrakech. Owned by Sir Richard Branson's sister, Vanessa Branson, El Fenn is a wonderful hideaway in the middle of the Old City of Marrakech. So close to all that bustling Marrakech has to offer, including its tremendous souks, it is a beautiful and quiet gem in the heart of the city but on a quiet side street. Vanessa Branson is an avid art collector and the property houses a wonderfully curated collection of artwork in the common spaces and in the rooms itself. Everything from paintings, contemporary prints and installations. The interior design of the riad [a traditional Moroccan home with an interior courtyard] is stunning. Each room is different, with brightly colored plastered walls and varying furnishings. There are also several seating areas throughout the property that have a bounty of kilim pillows. El Fenn also boasts one of the best rooftops in the city with a picturesque view of Marrakech's famed Koutoubia mosque. We spent a lot of time up there reading and enjoyed breakfast there every morning. The concierge team of El Fenn is unparalleled. Because it is a boutique riad, rather than a grand hotel, you certainly receive personalized service. We cannot wait to go back!
