As mentioned in Saturday's post, my friends and I went white water rafting in the Berkshires this past weekend. The owners of the Airbnb we stayed in are owners of a home goods and antiques store in Amherst, Massachusetts called, Home and Homme. Therefore, the suite we stayed in had a plethora of unique housewares throughout including beautiful textiles from India. Being there made me fall in love all over again with the remarkable linens and blankets that my home country produces. The place was fitted with a variety of kantha throws---the Indian version of a quilt which is perfect for balmy summer nights as they are made of lightweight, non-bulky cotton. Other Indian textiles that I adore are ones with block printing---like the tablecloth showcased above. Block printing is an ancient printing technique and it is very unique to India. My parents have several textiles like placemats and runners with block printing and my dear friend, Avantika of TheBrocadeSutra.com, got me a set of block print napkins on one of her recent trips back home to India. They are a great accessory to our dinner parties. The bed cover featured in the top left bedroom is also amazing. We had those in my grandparents' homes. Must have my mom pick one up for me on her next trip back home!
